Keeping the Fires Burning

Howzit y’all? Over the weekend was Mother’s Day and Friday was the global spike in support of those brave souls in Palestine. With recent events like the #blockparty going on following the absolutely tone deaf comments from Haley “Baylee” Kalil of “Let them eat cake” while there were people on the sidewalk behind her protesting to free Palestine. It’s become if it hadn’t really ever been abundantly clear that in the words of Michael Jackson, they don’t really care about us. Interestingly, while doing a quick internet search of what MJ had to say about Palestine and issues in the world at large I came across a poem/ unrecorded song penned by him.

I mean, MJ isn’t with us anymore but I echo the sentiment. As is, yesterday I had good friend of mine who’s a mom herself reach out. Apparently she’d been creeping on my social media platforms and seen some of the most recent videos I’ve put out on TikTok and now lo and behold? She’s joined the movement of blocking all the celebs and their brands/ products. It’s wild too to see the effect that millions of us worldwide are making.

If y’all want, head over to Tokcounter.com and check out whichever celebrity, politician etc. After clicking the change user button it’ll let you type in another person’s name. I just happened to put Taylor Swift as mine. After doing so, y’all will be able to see their numbers drop and keep dropping. Why? Well, we the people have had it with the wealth disparity, housing crisis, homelessness crisis, etc. Flint Michigan, that for years due to mismanagement and poor leadership had toxic water filled with lead particulates, acidic properties and even fecal matter.

It was so bad that the city of Flint previously issued a boil warning before ingesting said water. Years later now, Flint Michigan residents still don’t trust the water, let alone their local government to serve the people. In this article, dated April 25, 2023 from CBS News they go over the effects years after the pipes and water were “fixed”. Look y’all, I don’t claim to be a world expert authority on any of these topics. Thing is though? You really don’t have to be anymore. There’s so many people all over social media sharing information and surely there’s experts out there among the masses. All one really has to do to be informed?

Pick a topic, pick a video and educate yourselves. There’s this great quote from Edmund Burke, “the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Thankfully I’ve always had a problem sitting down, shutting up and letting the status quo remain unchanged. While I’m sorry it took me as long as it did to get involved with actually finding a way to fight the powers I have to say it’s thanks to TikTok and social media that I’m able to, for my small part be making a difference in the ways I can.

You don’t necessarily have to be marching in unison in protests at college campuses to make a difference. All the strength, peace and solidarity to those who are though. That’s their way of protesting and I fully support their freedom to peacefully assemble. There’s this scene in The Hunger Games book Mockingjay written by Ms. Suzanne Collins, here’s a link to the exact quote. Feel familiar? It should, because just like in the book/movies fire is catching.

It’s our duty to keep those fires burning. Only together can we make the world a better place. Think about it y’all, in one day Kim Kardashian’s social media lost three million followers. That’s huge numbers y’all, and it doesn’t stop with Kim K or Taylor swift. Then there’s the campus protestors peacefully protesting for their respective universities to divest from companies that profit off the literal genocide of children such as Boeing, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin and more.

I mean let’s be really really for reals everyone… We’re already separated into districts according to the Federal Reserve take a look at the below map.

This is a map of the 12 districts of the United States Federal Reserve System, with the 12 Federal Reserve Banks marked as black squares and the 24 (total) Branches of these Federal Reserve Banks are marked as red circles. The Washington DC Headquarters is marked with a star. (Also, a 25th branch in Buffalo, NY had been closed in 2008.)

Now I just pulled the above mentioned info off the web by looking up Federal Reserve District map on Google. But if that doesn’t look like Hunger Games type district division then I’m not sure what to tell you. I used to live in District 12, now I’m back home in District 8. Truly, what an age we live in y’all…Information is shared, saved, and spread like wildfire. Truly my generation and younger has the possibility of changing the world. Costing Kim K 3 million followers in a single day together? Check. Continuing the block party while spreading information and recruiting others to do the same? Check. Getting celebs to start issuing apologies and continuing to apply the pressure? Check.

This generation doesn’t forgive, we don’t forget, expect us. Stay strong y’all, together, we’re already making a difference united? How could we possibly be stronger? Just remember everyone, if we burn, they burn with us.
