Doing The Right Thing Isn’t Without Cost

Howzit y’all?

As the list of celebs, politicians, corporations and products to block and add to our collective digitine list seems to be ever-growing; I figured I’d instead hop on here and add instead to a list of celebs to check out. After all, not everyone is just blindly siding with isn’treal; in fact some are protesting with the rest of us. Indeed, some celebs have stood with the Palestinian people such as Mark Ruffalo, famous for his portrayal of the Incredible Hulk and Viggo Mortensen who played Aragorn in the world famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. While I don’t know all the ins and outs of Hollywood, let alone what all is involved in being a star like that, once again it all comes down to being a good human. It’s kind of like the litmus test of humanity with a shopping cart.

It takes absolutely nothing to take the five extra seconds to walk your shopping cart back to the rack at the grocery store or wherever. More than that, leaving it for someone else to take care of is both the epitome of laziness while also showing that you don’t care if that cart hits someone else’s car or causes extra work for them. With everything going on over in Palestine all I can keep thinking is they’re just fucking kids… I don’t care who you are, if you can sit there and say to me with a straight face that well, those kids wouldn’t be getting bombed if they weren’t supporting terrorism. Hi there, you’re part of the problem.

Thing is I don’t care who you are or what your background is, the carte blanche murder of kids, women and children is wrong any way you slice it. After years being distrustful of politicians and anyone with a significant amount of power I have to say… going through news reports or articles and paying attention to how many times specific wording is used? It’s a pretty revealing tool that allows you to see which way people are leaning bias-wise. Remember y’all, numbers don’t lie and they don’t care about feelings. If you can word count, you can find evidence of this in literally any news reel, article, etc.

For practice look to see how many times sensationalized words, phrases, or questions pop up. Terrorist, violence, protests, do you condemn Hamas? Also pay attention to how journalists, when they aren’t getting the answer they want to a question they asked they’ll try and flip things around on their interviewees and then either gaslight, argue with or cite incorrect, sensationalist sources in an attempt to elicit an emotional, reactionary soundbite that can be taken out of context to suit their needs. If y’all think these sound like dystopian practices well, you’re not entirely wrong.

What does it say when you start to realize the “press” (ABC, CBS, MSNBC, FOX, BBC, etc.) is mostly just western, colonialist, imperialist propaganda? Enough time and practice word counting news articles or reports and y’all will see what I’m talking about. It’s funny, I used to think my stepdad was a lil bit of a whackadoo when it came to conspiracy theories. Turns out he was actually legitimately right about what he was trying to let me know about. Now stay with me as I put on my tinfoil hat. September eleventh being an inside job, Pizzagate, etc… Thing is? If y’all just follow the numbers and evidence cause remember…numbers don’t lie; then eventually you’ll find out what’s actually going on behind the scenes.

It’s interesting too to see how these people in positions of obscene wealth and power wield said wealth and power. I’ve never claimed to be an expert at anything specific, that being said I’ve found the following simple fact to be almost universally true. Money and power only make you more of who you already are. So if you’re already an egocentric, narcissistic, manipulative personality type then money and power will only serve to further bring out your inner sociopath. Whereas if you’re already a chill, down to earth person who likes good food and hanging with friends and family? You’ll just get more of that with more good steak and wine.

As it stands I haven’t put out a whole bunch of content concerning the ongoing campaign of ethnic cleansing and genocide compared to some other influencers and creators out there. That being said, I have already seen some comments in my DM’s telling me some rather unkind things which don’t bear repeating. I’ve also had at least one uncomfortable conversation with an intergenerational family friend who in my mind, holds some rather outdated views concerning just blindly supporting what many in the world, myself included consider a terrorist, apartheid, colonizer state.

For me it’s black and white, no variances, no shades of grey. What Isn’treal is doing is wrong, plain and simple. Growing up my parents and coaches taught me to stand up for what’s right, if someone was being bullied to stand in their defense. To stand up to authority when I knew what those in authority was being done was wrong. Ironic how our parents, grandparents and teachers taught us these lifelong lessons, yet now when we choose taking a stand against the raging bullies everyone seems to be waving a flag saying wait a minute.

As for me, I don’t back down and I have no intention of stopping to draw awareness to these issues. In the words of campus protesters “Disclose, divest, we will not stop, we will not rest.” Personally I think there needs to be accountability for how money is spent in the name of the people. I also happen to think that we the people need to have veto power on how our money is spent. Let’s take the city of Atlanta for example, more specifically the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, under construction and more commonly known as “cop city.”

The proposed “cop city” would rip out eighty-five acres of land where native wildlife live at a cost of ninety million dollars. Personally I think we should have the right to say absolutely not to outrageous expenditures like that vetoing it outright. I don’t know about y’all, but that sounds like something worth protesting. As it happens there was a peaceful protester named Manuel Tortuguita Terán known as “Tort” who was part of the Defend the Atlanta Forests movement.

Back in January the eighteenth of last year Mr. Terán was peacefully protesting in a public park nearby the proposed building site of “cop city” camped out in a tent with the goal being to protect the Weelaunee Forest, according to differing reports he was given orders to exit his tent. Supposedly Mr. Terán after being told to exit his tent refused and allegedly fired off several rounds from a handgun at police. Personally after doing my own research into the issue, I find it far more likely that after the cops had Mr. Terán out of his tent they decided to be judges, juries, and executioners and shoot Mr. Terán to death with over fifty gunshot wounds that there was a bullet or a few that went through Mr. Terán and hit another cop. Here’s an article from The Intercept reporter Akela Lacy on that friendly fire incident.

Ultimately Mr. Terán was shot over fifty times by police. Having read Mr. Terán’s autopsy report I can safely say I agree with the medical examiner as to the cause of death being homicide.

I mean… when the medical examiner says it’s homicide (via cop) it really puts into perspective Michael Jackson’s song they don’t really care about us. I mean it’s pretty tone-deaf when we still have protests going on a college campuses worldwide and police showing up in riot gear with guns when there’s no cause to do so. Statistically all these protests are perfectly safe until people in positions of power (College Presidents and Provosts) call in the cops. I’ve said it for years and I’ll keep saying it, cops aren’t anyone’s friends. There’s a reason there’s the abbreviation of ACAB (all cops are bastards) the system of police is absolutely broken. The tired old excuse of oh there’s just a few bad apples but that doesn’t mean the whole orchard is rotten…

That excuse is quite simply patently false, if not an outright lie. Thing about accountability is that it only works if you hold everyone accountable to the same rules and regulations. Murder is murder, rape is rape and cops have been known to do both. Hell there’s investigative reports about police gangs in LA courtesy of Cerise Castile. The reason people everywhere say ACAB is because for every supposed “good cop” there’s at least ten more who are immoral and corrupt as hell. I mean listen, on multiple occasions throughout my life I’ve literally seen with my own eyes police thugs harassing the homeless. Ironic considering the slogan on their cruiser states “to protect and serve.”

Cop pigs don’t protect anyone and they sure as hell haven’t served me or anyone I know. In fact had I not been the only gringo in the car with friends on a couple occasions, odds were my Hispanic and Native American friends would have been victim of police harassment and probably illegal detainment by which I mean detaining someone without probable cause. In fact per case law in the case of Kolender v. Lawson (461 U.S. 352, 1983) The United States Supreme Court ruled that a police officer could not arrest a citizen merely for refusing to present identification.

So next time a pig asks you for your ID tell them no and cite this court ruling. Additionally with the US becoming further fascist as time goes on, you shouldn’t ever just give a cop your ID as that can allow them to know your home address and then they can send pigs to either shine bright lights into your house or just in general stalk and harass you. Understand too, that while I am citing my sources as any good college student/professor/ journalist will tell you to do; there will likely be slightly conflicting stories. I’ll preface this by saying that the inconsistencies y’all will notice come from either cops or police spokespeople initially saying they don’t have body cam footage, then they’ll backtrack and say oh wait we don’t have body cam footage showing video of the event; we do however have audio.

I personally find that intentionally evasive, not to mention shady as hell. It’s very much in the line of now you see it now you don’t. Get the facts while you can because they may not be here later. Ultimately I think we can all agree, the people “running” the United States so far are all hiding things from us. With what’s going on in Palestine I can’t say any of them are not guilty. Interestingly, Atlanta isn’t the only location with a cop city they’re being built and opened nationwide my advice? Get involved in whatever way possible. Fire is catching, we the faithful are millions strong and outnumber police, military, and everyone sitting in the Senate and Congress.

For my part I’m busy sharing resources, boosting the assorted social media algorithms and drawing attention to issues and topics that I feel truly matter. If you’re still standing on the sidelines trying to figure out where you fit or what your role is? Just do something. Silence and not doing anything to fix a problem won’t make the problem just magically disappear. Silence equals complicity and if you’re not speaking up or doing whatever you can to make a difference? You’re just as guilty as the people pulling the triggers on kids. Just be advised, taking a stand for what’s right? Will likely prompt at least a few uncomfortable conversations with friends and family. Doing the right thing has never been without cost, the question is are y’all willing to pay?
