Stargazing and Siege Tactics

Howzit y’all? Been a couple days since I’ve put anything out, y’all know how it is though. Gotta go through shit to keep writing. As it is, after having seen an innocent little Palestinian boy’s last moments on camera before being murdered? I had to take at least a day to myself; that may seem kind of tone deaf and I’ll own that. After all, I can turn off my phone at any point in time; meanwhile the people continue being killed in the Congo or Palestine isn’t going to simply stop overnight.

That being said, don’t get things misconstrued. I may have hopped off TikTok for a day but as previously stated fire is catching. I was busy learning and sharing more information about these hot topics. As it stands if y’all, like me busied yourselves with blocking politicians, products, companies and corporations? Odds are everyone is going to have to rinse, repeat that process. Why? Well, put simply all those politicians, products, companies and corporations paid stupid amounts of money to these platforms like Instagram and TikTok in order to be unblocked and able to try getting engagement with we the people.

Unfortunately for these individuals and corporations, anyone with morals or ethics ain’t buying what’s being sold. More to the point, they’ve massively underestimated our resolve and spite. Nothing is quite as tone deaf as a celebrity like Lizzo with millions of followers, asking for donations to help people in Gaza or Congo when they easily could singlehandedly could fund that GoFundMe page themselves. Like…c’mon now.

I don’t know if y’all have been following the college protests happening worldwide or not. If you have though, you’ve been seeing students, tenured professors and members of the free press illegally dragged off in cuffs or zip-ties. Per the Constitution of the United States “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

I’ll let that sit for a second. Y’all had a second to re-read that section? Good, then you’ll realize that the response to these college protestors is a straight violation of their/ our constitutional rights. Everyone involved in protests whether on college campuses or anywhere else? Your speech is protected. If you were arrested for using those rights? You were arrested and detained illegally. More than that though what you’re doing is making a difference. If it weren’t then there wouldn’t be reports like this trending in the news.

Now listen, I don’t claim to be an expert in all the ways the world works; that being said, I think the facts are abundantly clear. I mean all the previous alumni saying hey, until you stop with oppressive dictatorial fascist shenanigans we aren’t supporting you with our money let alone our time or services to the tune of seventy-seven million dollars is absolutely wild. What’s wilder is that’s just one university, think how many domestically in the US are standing together or starting to take the same stance. If you wanna look at the math theoretically let’s take seventy-seven million and multiply it by ninety which is how many universities were all standing up against the travesties in Palestine.

77 million x 90 = $6,930,000,000 that’s almost 7 billion bucks. Keeping in mind these are theoretical numbers of course. Still, theoretical numbers or not those are numbers that make differences and those are just the theoretical numbers of what if all the universities that were originally involved in these student protests took the stance the Columbia’s alumni did.

Take into consideration the fact that Kim Kardashian lost three million followers in a day following the 2024 Met Gala debacle, then all of the havoc of millions of people, all in unison blocking celebrities, politicians, corporations and products. I don’t care who you are, somewhere somebodies’ PR team is absolutely losing their minds. I mean, if you stop and think about it differences are already being made as several celebrities have put out apology videos. Ironically the actors aren’t very good at acting like they’re sorry. If you’re sorry write a check to the GoFundMe supporting Palestinian families actually affected in Isn’treals’ ethnic cleansing campaign.

As I previously stated in at least one blog post these celebrities, politicians, corporations and products have spent the money to be able to unblocked on all the platforms we’ve been blocking them on. My thoughts on this? Good, they’ve clearly underestimated our resolve, spite, and how we spend our time. We’ve got nothing better to do than practice economic siege tactics in order to effect actual, lasting change. Again I’m not an authority on finance matters, but if I had several million people following me and got blocked by them all? To the point I had to be spending my money to maintain that following? I might want to change my behavior.

100 Senators split between 2 members per state. For Congress? It has 535 voting members: 100 senators and 435 representatives. Meanwhile, over here in reality we are legion. We will not be silenced, we will not be complicit. If you’re like me, busy stargazing while practicing economic siege tactics to enact lasting change? Consider yourself in good company, at least we can look at ourselves in the mirror and not be ashamed.
