Keffiyeh Dreams

How’s it going y’all? My last post earlier today promised a new poem and here I am to deliver. A couple things about this poem is that it covers one of the hottest topics in news and current events today. The systematic eradication and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. I’ll be putting up another blog post within the next few days going into detail with why I believe the way I do.

For now though? I’d like to share with y’all an original work I’m calling Keffiyeh Dreams.

Tune into TikTok, here’s what you’ll see. Quick snapshots of time, behind the scenes news showing now it’s a crime to speak your mind. Take a stand for what’s right, risk spending the night in cell with other “agitators.” Colleges to cities, cities to seperate countries. Internationally unified voices, in legion of languages…all saying the same thing. End the genocide, cease the slaughter.

My tax dollars, funding ethnic cleansing…Complicit in genocide whether or not I wish it. Heart shattering anew with every new video, showing devastation in indigenous lands. Rebel spirit, unflinching, unwavering in support of what’s ethically and morally right. Millions worldwide, all saying the same thing; stop the genocide and free Palestine.

High-school history classes with serious tone whenever WWII was discussed. Years later, sobering spring break trip to DC. Holocaust museum visited, hundreds of shoes visible through clear glass to either side. To me, a room that smelled of death. Thought I’d go my whole life without live stream to second holocaust at my fingertips.

So here I sit on cloudy night, ‘neath full moon. Hoping ‘against hope people in power will listen to the united masses, millions strong as again voices are raised. Demanding cease to slaughter, history will recount the horror; while we, the faithful will never forget the resilience of the Palestinian people.

Thank you all for reading and I’ll be doing a deep dive into why my beliefs are the way they are in the next post. Stay tuned for that y’all, cheers.
