And so it begins…

What’s good y’all?

Been a little bit since my last post and I wanted to update everybody on some things that’ve happened since then. The super secretive poetry writing project has made it through all the obsessive and extensive first round of edits I myself have already done since this projects’ inception. Over ten years worth of writing, personal struggles and growth. Now?

After having submitted my manuscript to an editor out of Wheaton Illinois I’ve received back her copy of edits to the manuscript which I’m finally going to drop the codename for. As it hasn’t yet been published as a full work yet I’m calling this collection “Love Among Stardust Trails.”

Next steps for “Love Among Stardust Trails” is submitting query letters to different agencies in the time honored tradition of collecting rejection letters. I’ve already started the process of drafting several different query letter templates up and tonight the first round of queries will be going out while I’ll be making myself a whiskey and coke.

In other news, Mr. Bernard Hill who played King Theoden in both Lord of the Rings Two Towers and Return of The King passed away on May 5, 2024 age 79. This was a big sad for both my brother and I who are big LOTR fans and I’m sure based off all the TikTok videos and comments therein that many worldwide will miss this incredible actor and gentleman. To quote King Theoden… “Hail the victorious dead!”

As I continue the process of pursuing an agent and taking my manuscript from pen to print I’m reminded of some words of wisdom from a former friend of mine. “If it’s worth writing that many words and pages? It’s worth taking the time to do things right.” While there’s no doubt that more work is yet to be done I must concede… It feels damn good coming from a high school kid never having the words to having one of my previous poems published in an anthology alongside other poets.

Now, a full 14,734-word manuscript is making its way through the creative pipeline while I continue creating new written works. As it sits, there’s a poem sitting over half done on my bed right now that’s a form of written protest while simultaneously being art. Cool how art works huh? The best stuff is meant to stimulate either controversy, conversation or both.

Keep an eye out y’all, there’ll be a fresh out the oven poem tonight with a breakdown of my own thoughts, opinions and views concerning the subject matter. Keep a weather-eye on the horizon, new stuff is incoming y’all.
