When There Aren’t Opportunities? Make Them.

How’s it going y’all? Hopefully you’re all doing well amid the chaos of life. Recently I’ve been putting in applications and a copy of my resume everywhere I possibly can. Dealing with lots of people telling me the same thing…. “There’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to find a job. Everyone is hiring.” Well, unfortunately if that were true? I’d already be employed. However I’m still applying everywhere I can.

At the same time I’ve started another blog here on WordPress. Geared specifically towards my love of photography and beginning to see about making a part time business out of something I love. Additionally, I used to have an Etsy shop several years ago but nothing ever really came of it. Now? I’m in the midst of production of some home-made goods. I’m taking my hobbies and turning my talents into marketable means of potential income. There’s a quote I’m fond of by Mark Twain… “Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

I decided that while applying for jobs I wanted to eventually be my own boss. I had the gumption to come up with an idea that was all mine. To take the skills I have doing some of the things I love, and even better? Possibility of making money doing so. The interesting thing is? I feel mentally and spiritually at peace with my decision to pursue employment while also building up my own businesses.

My brother has this thing he’s fond of saying. I want to work to live, not live to work. I definitely identify with that; for me? It’s a direct parallel to Mark Twain’s words. Life doesn’t hand you anything y’all, you want something? Go get it/make it, period. You’ll never have something of yours if you aren’t willing to step out and take risks. I recommend doing so intelligently. Though, life isn’t clean either. There’s always going to be messes, but y’know…..Sometimes, beauty comes from chaos.

For now? I’m in the process of creating products that will delight and hopefully inspire. Much the same reasons as why I so love poetry and writing.
