Where Deep Thoughts Continue To Abound

How’s it going y’all? So it’s been about two weeks since I’ve posted anything on my blog. Busy two weeks as well… As of now I’m back home in Indiana and things are starting to come together. I’ve been approved for an apartment close to where I’m working, within longboarding or walking distance actually.

Haven’t yet moved in as there’s still some issues to take care of prior to moving in. But lease has been signed at the very least; add to that I’ve got a date with the incredible woman who’s inspired some of the poetry y’all have gotten to read on my blog.

Interestingly she and I are both fans of the show Chuck. The show follows the adventures of a young man in his mid twenties. Chuck Bartowski; he’s a guy very much like a lot of us. He gets kind of a raw deal from a former friend who makes his life hell by involving him with government secrets. His handler is Sarah Walker who is the overarching romantic interest.

Throughout the series it’s abundantly clear Chuck has fallen for Sarah. Multiple series of hijinks ensue until eventually Chuck gets the girl. Chuck isn’t like most spies, he’s not about killing people. However one of the people Chuck competes with for Sarah’s attention finally show’s his true colors and forces Chuck to choose between killing him and saving Sarah.

True to form Chuck pleads with the other agent to surrender and to let Sarah go. He drops his gun to a loose ready stance and when the other agent starts to draw on him Chuck shoots him. There’s a LOT to unpack from Chuck but I’ll say this. This show and the character of Chuck played by Zachary Levi can teach a great deal about love.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13….Chuck is patient, he won’t give up on Sarah. Interestingly the woman I’m going to dinner with this coming week after work embodies this series of verses; among many others. There’s this great quote I’m fond of referencing. Admittedly it comes from one of the great romantic poets. F. Scott Fitzgerald.

“She was beautiful, but not like those girls in the magazines.
She was beautiful, for the way she thought.
She was beautiful, for the sparkle in her eyes when she talked about something she loved.
She was beautiful, for her ability to make other people smile, even if she was sad.
No, she wasn’t beautiful for something as temporary as her looks.
She was beautiful, deep down to her soul. She is beautiful.”

Referenced from a copy of his book “The beautiful and the damned”

I’ll say that in my late 20’s I’ve had a surprising amount of deep thoughts. Lots of prayer, lots of crying on bathroom floors. Lots of growth; seems that isn’t stopping any time soon. To the contrary, it seems like whenever I seek guidance form God he utilizes something as simple as a TV show to teach me more about life. I’m back home y’all, where deep thoughts continue to abound.
